PRESENTATION OF OUR TRAINING PROGRAMME

One of the typical strategies in rural development projects is training human resources in accordance with the pursued goals. The projects Micología y calidad (Mycology & Quality) & Recursos humanos y desarrollo rural (Mycological Resources & Rural Development), integrated in a rural development process based on the enhancement of mycological resources, have established a close relation between specific actions and the recruitment of human resources.

If we intend to preserve the resource and exploit it within the principles of environmental sustainability, we need to form foresters with mycological knowledge, but we need also that mushroom hunters know how, when and where they can hunt their mushrooms, whether they do it for pleasure or for earning some extra money. If we want to increase the added value of mushrooms and make it benefit the areas where the resource is present, we must organize a marketing plan that ensures the safety and the quality of the product, under the supervision of health inspectors. If we intend to encourage economic activities based on mushrooms, such as tourism, we have to have not just guides that can design attractive products and bring together society and Nature, but also restaurateurs designing a warm and differentiated cuisine that can be one of our hallmarks.
